Skip the junk food
Did you know that what you’re eating can have a direct effect on your mental state? Increased caffeine and sugar intake can cause jitters, rapid heart rate, anxiety, and depression! If you feel like you’re having a bad day, then try to increase your water intake. Many opt for emotional eating to recover from their bad days, but that can actually make things worse. Skip the processed and high sugar foods. Instead, eat whole grains, fruits, vegetables, and fish. Put good things in your body, and you will get good things from your body!
Take the long way home
A second option for dealing with your bad day is to exercise. If you’re not an incredibly active person, then opt for a short walk down the block. You don’t have to run a marathon for it to be considered exercise. Exercising outside gives you a space to clear your head and get some fresh air.
Early bedtime for you
The work will be there when you wake up. If you’re having an overly emotional day, then you need to let yourself rest. You can’t complete your best work when you’re anxious and running low on motivation. Set the work aside and allow yourself to close your eyes. Studies have shown that 90-minutes is the perfect amount of time for a nap because it is the average length of a full sleep cycle. Don’t avoid the nap just because you don’t have 90 minutes. A recovery period is important whether it is a 30-minute cat nap or a 90 minute snooze!

Look at a picture of someone you love. Change your workspace (move to a new area, rearrange, etc.) Splash cool water on your face. Take the stairs instead of the elevator. These quick calming methods can help remind you that there are a number of things in your life to be proud of.
